The Project "Internet viewed by school children"

Our project "Internet viewed by school children". Interactions among pears in school are not limited to the school process and informal contacts of the mates. Today school children with growing interest refer to the Internet, looking for either information or communication and entertainment etc. According to the national project "Education" all schools will be connected to the fast Internet soon. Alongside with that it's been actively discussed all the security matters of Internet when referred to school children. What school children themselves think about the Internet? What would they like it to be? How the Net should be optimized in order to make it convenient and secure for children of school age? The range of research works, competitions and education programs will be devoted to these issues within the project "Internet viewed by school children".

The interview book

The interview book had been issued to the 15th anniversary of the home Internet. It is devoted to the history of Internet in Russia, as well as to the cooperation issues of science and Internet. The Foundation interviewers were talking to the leading IT-specialists- the founders of the Internet in this country. They all stem for science and each of them made his contribution to the home Internet development. Ministers, scientists, politicians, businessmen are recalling that time, sharing with us their thoughts, looking into the future of networks, discussing the role of science and education in the information technologies development. All interviews tackle the problems of further scientific networks and Internet development and the general tasks which todays' RuNET is dealing with.

The Project "The Museum of the Internet History"

The Project - The Museum of the Internet History is an attempt to overview the world and Russian Internet in its' historical development from the first days of its appearance. Museum's virtual halls and displays tell about the founders of the Internet, its development stages and the most significant events in it. In the Museum you can find a lot of different pieces: maps, pictures, documents and other materials which illustrate the history of the Net. Even Founding Fathers of the Russian Internet-segment, who were interviewed by the Foundation members, introduce for the Museum some interesting data.

Competition "Domain Grammar" Competition "Domain Grammar". The Competition was taking place during the whole year. The participants - school teachers and college tutors from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Saratov, Magnitogorsk, Novocherkassk and other places - submitted to the jury's approval their education programs on the principles of Internet address system for school and college students. They tried in their projects to show in a comprehensible and interesting way what the domain names system is, the organizations which rule the Internet infrastructure, and the top-level domains and their assignment.

The Competition "The Internet in the world and the world in the Internet" The Foundation for Internet Development ran a competition in the review and analytical works and essays, "The Internet in the world and the world in the Internet". The competition was devoted to the wide range of problems of info-communication technologies development, including prospects for the future of Internet-technologies such as problems of information security and social and psychological aspects of communication in information society. The Conference "Internet and science: 15 years together" On October 10, 2005 within the Russian Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" was held a Conference "Internet and science: 15 years together". The main goals of the Conference were to evaluate the past of the Internet in the context of science and education development, to analyze the prospects of the networking for education and science and its possible contribution to the development of information technologies and high-technology industry in Russia. The Conference joined the top representatives of science, education, politics and business of Internet and info-communication technologies. The Conference attended 227 participants, with 45 of them from different cities of Russia.

SU domain On September 19, 1990 Users Association UNIX (SUUG - Soviet UNIX User's Group) registered a top level domain SU. to use it on the territory of USSR. During the 17-years course of its existence the number of second level registered domains reached 10000 (according to stat.nic.ru). The number continues to rise in the present. Monthly about 150 new domain names is added. On December 21, 2000 the draft of the Memorandum of mutual understanding between RIPN (SU. domain administrator since 1993) and the Foundation of Internet Development has been approved. For that reason the Group of Experts was created in order to elaborate the decisions of the Foundation on further SU. domain development. Today The Foundation for Internet Development acts as an Administrator of SU.domain.
